Since Wednesday’s are usually my day off, I entertain the idea of going out Tuesday nights. Last night, after the gym, I met up with a friend and walked down the boulevard. The beginning of the night was somewhat dull, but we ended up walking into Motherlode. On Tuesday nights, Motherlode turns into “Manhole”.
Manhole is pretty much the Go-Go Boy night as Motherlode, but it’s a little more than that. These go-go boys aren’t your typical dancers. These dancers are a little edgier than your usual Mickey’s or The Abbey dancers: all tatted up, backwards hats, etc. There is also a small burst of fog every now and then that gives the whole space a mysterious feel.
The last thing about Manhole that makes it a special night, is the not-so-disgusting “adult” movies that play on the screens in the bar. A couple of the screen are color filtered with “MANHOLE” right in front of the screen.
The Motherlode is always cash only, is located just one business east of Robertson on Santa Monica Blvd.
